PFC Floyd Rogers, from Rising Star, Eastland County, Texas, seen here with his BAR in Normandy. This photo was taken 81 years ago today on June 29, 1944. Rogers would receive the Silver Star on July 11th, but was sadly killed the very next day outside of Saint-Lô.

A massive fire at West Texas State Normal College (now called West Texas A&M University) on March 25, 1914. The fire completely burned the school to the ground. Classes were moved to local churches. In 1916 a new Administration Building was opened.

Man O' War, a B-17F-5-BO of the 323rd Bombardment Squadron, 91st Bombardment Group. Sadly this aircraft was shot down by a Fw 190A-6 of JG 26 on July 30, 1943. 2 of her crew were captured, the rest were killed.
